The best kept secret in the Roseville youth group has to be our Saturday morning group. Currently, we are talking open and honestly about why we have faith and how to defend our faith. There aren’t random, off-topic discussions. It is simply learning together without distraction. I know there is little chance of anyone getting this message and that is my fault. However, we are meeting today at 9:00am to discuss the question, “How can God exist if there is so much evil and suffering in the world?” I hope to see more of you here on upcoming Saturdays. Check the calendar for exact dates and times.

Today we head to the home of the wonderful Sabella family. They are like a modern day Brady Bunch, only without the previous marriages and cheesy diaglogue. We go further in to the book of Galatians, learning that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way to obtain salvation. We’ll also get the opportunity to stand in awe of the Sabellas’ gigantor television. If you need a ride, get to the Wriston house around 6:00.

Just to remind all of you wonderful peeps, we are meeting at my house at 6:30 on Saturday to prepare for the 50s diner fundraiser that takes place on Sunday. All of the proceeds will go towards the activities fund of everyone that is present. The less time you are available and the less work that is done, the less money that will go towards future activities. This includes summer trips, lock-ins, Winterfest, etc. We will mostly be decorating with a minimal amount of food preparation. Therefore, there will not be green chicken sauce in the back seat of my car. I hope to see you all there!

Those of us who were able to attend Illuminate 2007 had a fantastic time. It was entertaining, educational, and uplifting. We were each able to learn about developing our talents and allowing the spirit of Christ to dwell within us. I hope that the entire group can plan to come with us next year. Watershed will be there again as well as David Fraze, an incredibly gifted speaker. Below is the highlight video of the event. If you look closely, you will see our own Kayla Wilson and Katie Chincarini. My good friend Ely Lambert is featured at the end, welcoming a sister in to the body of Christ.

Tuesday night we will be bowling at the shadiest place in town, Lakeshore Lanes. Lakeshore Lanes is located at the corner of 13 Mile and Jefferson, in the most dangerous ghetto of Saint Clair Shores. Actually, it is one of the only smoke and alcohol free places in town. The people are also incredibly nice! Bring $6, shoes or a bowling ball if you own them, a bullet proof vest, and your “gat” of choice. We will be meeting at my house to carpool. If your parents aren’t comfortable with you driving with someone other than Sara or I, let me know.

This week we return to the ever so humble home of the Wristons. I’d like to ‘truck on through’ our study of Revelation. It really is an awesome book and I don’t you to end up like me, having little idea of what it all means. It is a relevant and encouraging read when you get past the beasts covered in eyes and the dragon. We will also hit up some Wii, 360, and whatever entertaining things I have lying around the house. I hope to see you there!

This Thursday we will be meeting at the Wilsons’ to continue in our study of the book of Revelation. Those who enjoy rockin’ out are welcome to bring their instruments of choice. Contact John Wriston or consult the wonderful church directory if you need to know how to get to the Wilsons’ house.

Tommorrow night we will be playing cards at the Wriston home. For some reason I am incredibly hyped for this night. I am going to try to set up two tables so we aren’t as crowded. Dan “shifty eyes” Thibodeau and Josh “big stakes” Chaffin will be our celebrity guests. Bring some snackage if you would like. I am looking for a challenge this time so no taking huge risks just to loose early. In other words… bring it!

We are definately going to Illuminate 2007, a youth conference at the Rochester Church of Christ. It should be a very exciting event. Pat Pugh will be the keynote speaker. Watershed Worship and Ekklesia, from Rochester College, will be leading worship. The event also includes performances by Jason Tomlinson of Spoken Word Praise and Ambassadors, a drama group from Ohio Valley University.

We will be car pooling to the event from the Roseville Church of Christ at 5:00pm on Friday, March 16. We will return at around 9:15pm. We will be car pooling again at 7:30am on Saturday, March 17 and returning at around 9:30pm. Lunch is provided on Saturday and we will be eating dinner on the town. Please let me know if you are available to drive.

The cost is typically $25 but I am using money from the youth budget to bring the cost down to $15 as I believe this will be a great event for the teens. $15 is due by Thursday, March 1. After Thursday, the cost will be $20. Make checks payable to John Wriston. Cash is also acceptable.

In addition to the youth conference, two seminars are being made available for parents for free. These include “Understanding Your Teenager” and “Preparing for College”. See John Wriston if you are interested in attending these seminars.

This week the Thursday night Bible study returns to the home of Lucky, Frankie, and the ravenous Pumpkin. Please let me know if the Thursday night study needs any kind of format changes. I am considering work sheets if they will actually be used. I am really enjoying our study of Revelation and I hope you are as well. Please remember to clean up my Guitar Hero guitars and DDR pads this time! ;)
