In an unprecedented turn of events, we are having class for the first time at the home of the mighty Tostige family! The Tostiges have a pool and want to get some use out of it before the summer ends, so we are migrating their way this evening. Be sure to bring your swimsuits and a Bible. If you so feel the desire to bring soda or snacks, go with that feeling. I suppose that is all the information I can give you for now. Get those shirt orders in and pay attention to the calendar for a list of upcoming events. I’ll see you tonight!

No Class Tonight

Well, I have good news and bad news. I apologize for this, but the bad news is that I have to cancel class tonight. The good news is that Liz Simpson has a new job! Liz starts work tonight so the Simpsons can’t host us for the evening. We will get consistent Thursday night classes started next week. Let me know what topics you want to study on further Thursday nights. Also, if you are willing to teach on a Thursday night, please let me know. I want to give you guys the opportunity to serve.

Please continue to keep the future of the youth group in your prayers. I really want us to grow in faith and spend more time in service. It also wouldn’t hurt to have a few more teens join our group so bring a couple friends when you spend time with the group. Please also pray for the Shewell family. I love you all! God bless you!

Saturday, we will leave at 8:00a and get back around 6:00p. Focus from Rochester College is performing their brand of dramatized antics. Going Away Party

I know this is entirely last minute, but we decided on Sunday morning (during the teen class), that we should have a going away party for Tim Tostige. We will also be celebrating the other seniors that are leaving us this year, but Tim is leaving the state tommorrow morning to start his college career at Harding University in Arkansas.

We are going to go to Gameworks at Great Lakes Crossing. Call me if you need directions. We are going to meet at 5:00p at my house. Bring as much money as you think you will need. The restaurant there has $10-$20 meals. However, spending money at their restaurant gets us free game cards. If you don’t want to spend that much, eat earlier or you can get something inexpensive in the mall’s food court. Playing games there can get expensive depending on how much you’d like to play. Bring at least $7. You can always partner up with someone as buying larger value cards gets more bonus points. Everything is explained here.

If you don’t want to play games, the mall is open until 9:00p for lots of shopping goodness. We will stay no later than 10:00p. Let me know ahead of time if you need a ride or if you have any general questions. I hope to see you there!

Just a Few Notes…

Hey there boys and girls! It’s your old pal, John the youth minister! The entire month of July was insanity but I loved every minute of it. It began with a wonderful trip to King’s Island. It continued with a fantastic trip to Pennsylvania that allowed you to serve in the community while I suffered from a dreadful sunburn. The month ended with a bang as we participated in a bonfire, the always enjoyable Vacation Bible Experience, and various other fun filled events. In the end, I learned that sharing a house with the Jamiesons is more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

August is set to be almost as fantastic as July. We begin the month with the annual Roseville Church of Christ Canoe Trip. For those of you attending, it’s a great weekend of camping, eating, volleyball playing, canoing, and of the course the always exciting tubing (which, by the way, does not involve a speed boat). I am excited that most of the youth group is coming this year. Next weekend, from Friday the 17th to Saturday the 18th, we will be attending the Walled Lake Youth Rally. It should be a great event with speaker Patrick Mead, worship lead by Watershed Worship, and a performance by Focus (featuring Paul Wriston). The cost is $10 but don’t let that prohibit you from attending (read: tell me if you need monies).

Just yesterday we were invited to attend a lock-in at my parent’s home congregation, the North Warren Church of Christ. We will be playing Whirlyball on Friday the 24th of August and spending the night at the church. North Warren is great place for a lock-in as they have a large fellowship hall with room for volleyball and an auditorium with an amazing sound system and projector. I’d like to get a nice sized group going so we can meet some more people and plan larger events. Cost and other details are forth coming.

Wow… that was an incredible amount of typing. Tell me if you have any other future suggestions activities. This ministry is yours. I want you to enjoy yourselves while serving others and growing as God’s men and women. I love you all and God bless you!
