I neglected in my last post to inform you all that our devotional this week will take place at the home of Liz Simpson! We are starting at 6:30. Let me know in advance if you need a ride or directions. I hope someone out there is actually reading this web site. It seriously remains the best source of information regarding youth group happenings. If you are out there reading, let me know!

Something Awesome This Way Comes…

Greetings earth creatures! It is I, your friendly neighborhood youth minister, here to tell you of fun and happy times to come. The volcanic explosion of fun is about to erupt after the calm of the holiday season and those wonderful exams. First up we have Winterfest. I absolutely must know who is coming to Winterfest by tonight, Wednesday, January 30. I will be handing out permission forms and total amount due this Sunday after morning services. I am starting to get crazy hyped for Winterfest. We have a bigger group coming than I first thought so it should be crazy amazing.

This Tuesday we will be doing another $1 movie/Applebee’s 1/2 off appetizer night. We will meet at Macomb Mall at 6:00p for the movie. We will then travel to Applebee’s at 9:00 after the mall is closed. Unfortunately, I know some of you might have to miss Applebee’s because their special doesn’t start until after 9:00p. All I can ask is that you try.

Next weekend we are going to attempt to head to the Fridge, a refridgerated toboggan run in Waterford. I will give you more details in class on Sunday and on the website next week.

Finally, I want to let you all know that I am really excited about Illuminate 2008. Last year’s Illuminate was amazing even though only a few of you could make it. This year’s line up includes David Fraze, Patrick Mead, and Pat Pugh who are all really fantastic teachers. There will be concerts by Riley Armstrong (really good musicians and hilarious guy) and Salient. Drama will be performed by Take 2 and the Ambassadors. The cost for registration is $25 and is due Sunday, Feb. 24. There will also be sessions for adults so all parents are welcome. The cost for parents is $10.I know this is close to Winterfest so let me know if you need help with costs. I can’t stress enough great this event was last year.

I’m all set for migration! Mom? Dad? Anyone? (end scene)

So C-C-C-Cold….

Hey there fellow Michiganders! I hope you all aren’t freezing as much as I am right now! I am highly considering building an igloo to use as my office. It would make me feel like I’m on an Alaskan vacation and I’d never have to clean up again. I would just melt down the old one and move on. Disposable office… what a concept!

Anyway, it’s that time again. It’s the special time of week where I share with you all the happy little events taking place in the weeks to come. First thing’s first… If you haven’t paid me the initial $25 for Winterfest then you need to do so ASAP. I seriously need to know for sure who is coming this year. Second, Thursday night class this week starts at 6:30. If you plan to attend, please give me a call as we might be having class away from ye olde Allen St. house. I wouldn’t want you to show up and have an encounter with the glitch baby (inside joke… ask me and I’ll tell you about it) all alone!

I have registration materials for Illuminate 2008! (whoah… total rhymeage!)  Last year’s event was a lot of fun and I am really excited about this year. I don’t want any one to miss out so contact me for information at your earliest convienience. I will be preparing some information to hand out to everyone but I want to make sure you get it, regardless of how much I see you busy folks. The event takes place March 14 and 15.

If any of you are interested, there are a couple concerts taking place at the Flood Cafe in Saint Clair Shores at 6p on February 8th and 9th. The cost for each night is $5. A few local Christian groups are playing. I want to at least check the place out and see if we might be able to visit there more often.  For more information, check out their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/floodcafe. I guess that is all for now. I hope to see you all at church tonight! 7:00p!!!

Just One Day Late…

Greetings and salutations web surfers! I just wanted to type a quick weekly update to keep you all in the loop. This week is one of insanity for me. Just thinking about it makes my pulse race. It isn’t all bad, just busy. Tomorrow, Thursday, we will be meeting @ the church @ 6:30p to decorate for the Chinese Luncheon. Remember that everyone who particiates gets a little help with paying for Winterfest. After decorating, I’m sure we will do something fun and exciting so no worries there.

Saturday evening @ 7:00p we will be preparing the food for the Chinese luncheon. It should be interesting as I myself have never prepared a Chinese dish. It is a good thing I am married to a gourmet chef. Sunday after church is the luncheon. I will have a job for everyone who is available. Again, those assisting get money for Winterfest.

For everyone going to Winterfest, I need your $25 deposit as soon as possible. I need to know if any hotel reservations should be canceled or if I need to find more transportation. At the very least, I need solid confirmation that you are planning to go to Winterfest this year. We have an excellent group already confirmed and other than driving, I am very excited about the trip.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well. Though this is a crazy week, I finally get to see what all the hype for the movie ‘Cloverfield’ is about. I also have the privilege of meeting a few of the Detroit Pistons on Friday, so that’s sweet. Next week, on Tuesday, we are going to be seeing a movie for $1 and getting 1/2 off appetizers at Applebee’s for anyone who is interested. Call or e-mail me if you wish to come along.

 Cloverfield!

You will be mine Cloverfield monster. Oh, yes… you will be mine.

It’s Been Such a Long Time…

Yay! Regular updates are back in town! Just over a week ago, we began a new year known formerly as 2008. I, for one, am incredibly excited to see what this year holds in store for the Roseville Youth Group. We have several big plans for the upcoming year that can be briefly summarized as follows:

February: WINTERFEST!, Company/Autumn show

March: Illuminate

April: 2nd Annual Laughs and Lock-in

Summer: Spirit Song Festival, Mission Trip (Destination: TBA)

There are a few other things I am working on as well at the moment. One of my big goals this year is to involve us in more service-oriented activities. Let me know if you have any ideas for people or organizations that we can assist. Also, you are always free to suggest entertaining group activities. I am always up for trying new things so don’t be shy about throwing a few ideas my way. Remember, you can always e-mail me @ epsilon_rc@hotmail.com. I also accept phone calls to the church office @ (586) 771-5311. This year, I would also like you all to focus on bringing a few friends along. I am always up for meeting some new people and I hold closesly to the cliche, “The more, the merrier”.

I think at least every other Tuesday is going to be dollar show/half off appetizers @ Applebee’s night. There are few better ways to have as much fun for as little cash money. Tonight is class @ 7pm in the Allen Street House. Tomorrow, Thursday, we have our usual 6:30pm devotional in the same place. We are going to set up some big screen Rock Band and other forms of entertainment. We might even play a few hands of ye olde Euchre, Michigan’s native card extravaganza. That is all for this week. Be prepared for the evening of Saturday, Jan. 19. We are going to be preparing food for our “Chinese New Year Luncheon” to take place on Jan. 20. Your parents are requested to prepare an asian course of their choosing for the fundraising event. Those who assist with the event will be given funds towards this year’s trip to Winterfest.

Happy New Year!

Happy Belated New Year… in Austrailia apparently…
